Riverside Renegades U16 Girls Take on the best in Dallas over Thanksgiving

12/5/08 - By Richard Dell

Riverside Renegades U16 Girls participated in their first ever soccer showcase tournament over the Thanksgiving holiday.  The girls flew to Dallas to compete in the Texas Cup, aiming to impress the 150 coaches recruiting at the event.  The girls were selected to play against some tough Texas teams with national rankings and a state cup champion and semi finalist.

The girls competed well and showed some great performances, most notably against Classics Elite 93 from Texas South, ranked 3rd in the State and 22nd in the region, winning the game by a margin of 2-1.  Riverside Renegades U16 Head Coach, Richard Dell, said "It took us a little while to settle down, as you would expect playing in our first showcase event and against a great team.  The girls worked hard and we had some fine performances out there deserving the victory from such a great second half display."

The U16's had an exceptional Fall season finishing in first place and will look to compete in more showcases next year with the end goal of getting as many of these girls into Collegiate level soccer programs as possible.
